What’s on a Breakfast Baconator?

One sausage patty, six strips of Applewood-smoked bacon, two slices of American cheese, a fried egg, and Wendy’s Swiss cheese sauce, stacked on a toasted bun. The detail most people miss: unlike the regular Baconator, which is built on two beef patties, this version replaces the beef entirely with a single seasoned sausage patty. It is not a beef burger with an egg on it.

The Swiss cheese sauce is the same warm, savory sauce Wendy’s uses on the Sausage, Egg & Swiss and Bacon, Egg & Swiss Croissants, built on Swiss and cheddar cheese with cream, butter and sour cream, not a separate breakfast-only recipe.

Availability and allergens

Like the rest of Wendy’s breakfast menu, it is only available during breakfast hours, generally until 10:30 a.m. local time, after which the kitchen switches to the full lunch and dinner lineup. Full hours detail is on our breakfast hours page.

Both egg and dairy are central to the sandwich, not optional additions. The fried egg is a core component, and the Swiss cheese sauce itself contains egg yolks, milk and cream in addition to the American cheese slices, so it is not suitable for egg or dairy allergies without substantial modification.

Breakfast Baconator questions

What's on a Wendy's Breakfast Baconator?

One sausage patty, six strips of Applewood-smoked bacon, two slices of American cheese, a fried egg, and Wendy's Swiss cheese sauce, stacked on a toasted bun. It swaps the regular Baconator's two beef patties for a single sausage patty, which is the detail most people get wrong assuming it's a beef burger with an egg added.

How many calories are in a Breakfast Baconator?

630 calories, with 30g of protein and 1,410mg of sodium. That sodium figure is worth knowing: it is over 60% of the FDA's daily recommended limit in one sandwich, mostly from the bacon, cheese sauce and sausage together.

Is the Breakfast Baconator made with beef or sausage?

Sausage. Unlike the regular Baconator, which uses two beef patties, the Breakfast Baconator's protein base is a single seasoned pork sausage patty, with bacon added on top rather than doubled beef.

What sauce is on the Breakfast Baconator?

Wendy's Swiss cheese sauce, a warm, savory blend built on Swiss and cheddar cheese, cream, butter and sour cream. It is the same sauce used on the Sausage, Egg & Swiss and Bacon, Egg & Swiss Croissants, not a separate breakfast-only recipe.

How much does a Breakfast Baconator cost?

This guide lists the standalone sandwich at about $5.10. A combo costs more, and local prices vary.

Is the Breakfast Baconator available all day?

No. Like the rest of Wendy's breakfast menu, it is only available during breakfast hours, generally until 10:30 a.m., after which the kitchen switches over to the full lunch and dinner lineup.

How does the Breakfast Baconator compare to the Croissant sandwiches?

It combines what the two croissants offer separately. The Sausage, Egg & Swiss Croissant and Bacon, Egg & Swiss Croissant each pick one protein; the Breakfast Baconator uses both sausage and bacon in the same sandwich, which is why it carries more calories and sodium than either croissant alone.

Does the Breakfast Baconator contain egg and dairy?

Yes, both are central to it. The fried egg is a core component, and the Swiss cheese sauce contains egg yolks, milk and cream in addition to the American cheese slices, so it is not suitable for egg or dairy allergies without substantial modification.
